Over the last week, I’ve been in a little bit of a rut. Since the beginning of October, I’ve been off my normal routine. I’ve been working late nights, have been eating more junk food that normal, and by the time I’ve gotten home I’ve missed my regular workout classes.
In addition, the world has become a lot more negative. One of the reasons I was excited for the election to be over was for us to come together as a nation again. Sadly, it seems like it has torn us further apart.
At the end of last week, my Uncle who was diagnosed with brain cancer in April passed away. Even though his life was cut way too short, it is clear what an impact his life was on all of us. He will not soon be forgotten.
All of those factors left me with low energy and unmotivated. I knew I was in a rut and needed to get out of it. Here are my 3 Tips for Getting Out of a Rut!
3 Tips for Getting Out of a Rut
- Get Back on Schedule – This one is easier said that done however I knew it was a big factor in my low energy. The last few months have made me realize how important it is to step back and make sure I’m taking care of myself no matter how busy I am. Losing my uncle so quickly to cancer also is a big reminder to focus on what really is important in my life.
- Take Time for Yourself – For me, one of the best ways is to get outside and take a walk in a park on a sunny day. It gives me time to slow down, reflect, and remember to appreciate every moment.
- Get Moving – This is one of the best ways to get out of a rut for me. Even though the last thing I feel like doing is working out when I have low energy and am feeling unmotivated, it is the best thing for me. As we all know, exercising produces endorphins. It not only puts me in a better mood, it also helps to reduce stress.
I hope you guys understand my lack of posts the last couple of weeks. I promise more are coming next week!
