Sometimes we all need a little helping finding our motivation. There are days where I feel completely unmotivated and that is OK. We all need a break once in a while! However, these tips help me to pick up right where I left off. Here are my tips for staying motivated that I’ve learned over the last few years!
Create Goals For Yourself
One of the best ways to stay motivated is to write down your goals. At the beginning of the month, I will write down high-level goals for that month. It helps me think through what I want to accomplish while still maintaining balance.
Create To-Do Lists
I am a To-Do List person. It started in college when my workload became kind of crazy. It’s stuck with me ever since. In the last year, I started creating weekly and daily to-do lists. Checking off my to-do items allows me to feel accomplished which helps me to stay motivated.
Figure Out When You’re The Most Productive
We all work in different ways and figuring what works for you is key. For me, if I’m going to do chores around the house it has to be first thing in the morning. I find that if I don’t get them out of the way, I put them off. For all other work, I find I’m most productive after lunch till around 8 or 9. While I’ve managed to learn how to be productive in the mornings, I prefer working mid to late day. By 9, I’m ready to curl up on the sofa and relax.
Find Things that Inspire You
When I’m lacking motivation, the best way to create motivation is to find inspiration. My biggest source of inspiration is looking at work other people create. Whether it is reading a book or blog post, scrolling through Instagram or watching videos on YouTube. All are great ways for me to become inspired.
Know When You Need a Break
When we are constantly working, it is incredibly easy to become burned out. Know when you are starting to feel that way and give yourself time and take a break from working! For me, it varies on how long of a break I need. Sometimes it is an evening where I just relax and watch TV. Somedays it is an entire day on the weekend where I just get out and explore. If I’m lucky, a couple times a year I’ll take a longer break and go a vacation for a long weekend. It helps you to feel recharged and ready to tackle your goals again!
