Bad days are inevitable. Even the happiest person will still have a bad once in a while. The most important thing is to not let the bad day turn into a rut. To be honest, this post wasn’t planned for this week. After having a frustrating day at work, I could have let it ruin the rest of my evening. Instead, I decided to do many of these things instead!
Talk To a Friend
The first thing I usually do is talk to a friend who will understand what I’m going through. Having someone there that you can vent to and will sit back and listen is the best way to get your feelings off your chest and not let it build up inside. It is even better if this friend is someone that will be completely honest with you and will call you out if there is something you should have done differently.
Do Something for Yourself
Whether it is a little online shopping, painting your nails, or taking a yoga class. Take the time to do something for yourself that you wouldn’t do on an average day.
Make Your Favorite Meal
There is just something about comfort food that always helps me feel better. And let’s be honest, don’t we all feel a little better with a full belly of our favorite food? Sometimes if you’ve had a really bad day, you might not be hungry but skipping a meal will only make it worse.
Do Something to Distract Yourself
There are times after a long day that the only thing I want to do is crawl in bed and watch TV. While that is fine to do every once in a while, one of the best ways to get out of your head is to distract yourself from your thoughts. Like writing this blog post for example! Other ways I do this include: going for a bike ride, deep cleaning on a room that needs it, or reading a book. Something that will make you feel productive is the best way to make yourself feel better.
Allow the Bad Day to Turn into a Positive
Try to follow me on this one. While in most cases you can’t control what happened to make it a bad day, try to learn from it and motivate you to make a change or doing something good for someone else.
