I know, I’ve been very quiet on here the last month. I really don’t have a good excuse because I don’t really believe in excuses. I’ve tried to sit down many times to write a post and by the time I do it is late at night. I’ve discovered that writing late at night doesn’t work for me. It takes twice the effort it does in the morning and I’m rarely happy with what I’ve written because it isn’t my best work. Since early March, my 9-5 job has been so incredibly busy. This last month, in particular, I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve left at 5. It had become much more common to leave between 6:30-7. By the time I got home and made dinner, I was exhausted and my mental capacity was fried.
At the same time, I’ve done my best to make the absolute most of my weekends. When the sun is shining, I can’t help but want to be outside. Even though I’ve been quiet on here, I’ve tried to keep everyone updated and share some of my favorite photos on my Instagram. I also figured, what a better way to update you than to share a new addition of Monday Muse!
Reading // nothing more than some of my favorite blogs. I’ve really gotten behind on reading in the last month. Cue the dreaming note below…
Watching // Big Brother and Ozark. Big Brother is my summer guilty pleasure. I’ve watched every season since the show premiered and it doesn’t feel like summer without it. I will say, I’ve not been impressed with this season. While there are a few players I like from a personality perspective (Elena, Kevin, Mark, Alex) I don’t like how many bullies there are in the house. People have been down right mean and I hope they watch the season back and realize how hurtful their behavior has been. Now Ozark. If you haven’t watched this show on Netflix yet, you need to. I haven’t watched the entire season yet, but I was hooked from the first episode.
Listening // to Mogul: The Life and Death of Chris Lighty. I’ve become a huge fan of podcasts and this is the latest one I’ve been hooked on. I hadn’t heard of Chris Lighty until I heard an ad for this podcast while listening to Up First on my morning drive to work. Chris was one of the most powerful figures in the Hip Hop industry until his death in 2012. The podcast starts from the beginning of his career and tells the story of how he worked his way up in the industry.
Waiting // patiently for the new season of Stranger Things. I know we have a couple of months still but I can’t wait for the new season.
Wishing // I could spend every day exploring. But you have to pay the bills somehow right?
Working // all the time (at least it feels like it). I’m hoping that after the next few weeks, things get back a normal pace.
Dreaming // about sitting on a beach and reading for days. There are so many books I want to read and nothing sounds more relaxing right now than sitting under a big umbrella with a book in hand and watching the waves.
Snacking // on Larabars. While I haven’t come close to trying all the flavors they carry, I love the Apple Pie and Cherry Pie flavors. Not only are they delicious, they are filling and full of ingredients you know.
Drinking // Revive Vitamin Water. I’ve never been a big fan of sports drinks but this is one that I absolutely love.
Planning // how I want to spend the last few weekends of summer. I haven’t made it to the pool once this summer. I’m hoping I can relax by the pool this coming Friday since I have the day off. Let’s hope the weather turns out nice!
Saving // for a few new gadgets for my camera. I’ve got my eye on a new lens as well as this camera remote.
Looking // forward to capturing the fall and sharing it on my Instagram. While I love Summer, Fall photos are some of my favorites to capture. I can’t wait to do some fall hikes as the leaves start changing colors.
Wearing // this backpack from LL Bean for my day hikes. I actually bought it last fall but I’ve gotten so much use out of it this year. It the perfect size for me for day hikes and my tripod fits nicely inside.
Buying // through Amazon Prime Now. I made my first purchase using Prime Now this past weekend and I love it. It was super easy, came within the 2 hours I directed and packaged nicely. I ordered some produce which made me a little bit nervous but it came in perfect condition. I will definitely be using it again!
Refusing // to not make the most of every day. As the saying goes, the days may be long but the months go by fast. Life is too short to not make the most of it.
Organizing // my kitchen. I cleaned out my fridge a few weeks ago. My kitchen pantry is next on the list.
Loving // the summer evenings. It is the perfect time to sit by the fire and relax after a long day.
