You’ve might have noticed I’ve been a little quiet on here in the last month. There have been multiple factors that lead me taking a break and frankly, I could feel it coming for a few months. I kept trying to get back on schedule but ultimately, I needed to take some time to think through where I want to take this blog in 2018 and beyond.
Where did it begin?
Around August I started feeling sluggish and constantly exhausted. My full-time job had been extremely demanding for months and I was consistently working long hours. Since I was regularly getting home between 7 and 8, I was missing my work classes therefore, I wasn’t getting any exercise during the week.
In September I decided to make a change. I start using the gym after work no matter what time I got home. However, that meant my evenings were completely filled and the weekends were spent trying to catch up on household chores. I also didn’t enjoy going to the gym as much as workout classes.
In October I decided to switch up my schedule and workout before work which meant getting up at 5:30 each morning to make it to the 6am Pure Barre class. Around this time I started also working on a new project at my full-time job which meant I was able to get out of work at a decent time each night.
So why the break?
At first, getting up so much earlier was a big adjustment. Overall, I felt so much better during the day but by the time I would normally sit down to work on my blog in evenings, my brain was fried. It was taking me a lot longer to complete my posts (I’m talking 3-4 days) and I wasn’t as happy with the quality of what I creating.
I also felt like my content was becoming surface level and I was feeling uninspired. I wanted to create content that built a deeper connection with my readers.
That is when I knew I needed to take some time off. While I’ve taken some time off from writing, there hasn’t been a day I didn’t think about this blog and what was next.
So what’s next then?
This might be obvious…but new content! One of the things I’ve realized over the last month is how much the blogging and social media has changed since I first started this blog. I want to expand the variety of my posts and cross into new topics that I haven’t discussed before. I want to provide more valuable content to my readers and give you all more of a reason to come back for a visit!
If you have a blog, have you ever taken a break? What did taking a break do for you and your blog? If you don’t have a blog, what type of content do you enjoy reading the most?
